For those of you who ever saw the movie Spirited Away, Hayo Miyazaki also directed that film.

For those of you whose thought process stops at that...I am sorry for you. You are the kind of person that will probobly get along in life just fine thinking that you are completely comfortable with what you have now and what you know now. You will continue to order the exact same sandwich from the exact same restaurant for the rest of your life and who can blame you...it's a tasty sandwhich, but I hope that at some point in your life you will take the time to step outside your comfort zone just a little. Cross some boundaries, and look for beauty and truth in a world that is new and perhaps a little (or a lot) foreign to you.
Howl's Moving Castle is a great opportunity for you to cross some borders and find some beautiful truths about life.
Allow me to leave you with two of my favorite quotes:
"You'll be the same person five years from now except for the people you meet, the books you read, and the risks you take." (I would interpret "books you read" as "media you consume," which would include music, poetry, films, etc.)
"If there is any truth in heaven, earth, or hell, I want to embrace it, I care not what shape it comes in to me, who brings it, or who believes in it, whether it is popular or unpopular. Truth, eternal truth, I wish to float in and enjoy." (John Taylor, Journal of Discourses, 1:155.)

Roy and I loved Spirited Away! We're really looking forward to seeing Howl's Moving Castle when it comes out on DVD...
BTW, thanks for the props on Lazy Sunday and helping me whore my art ;P
I'm sure you guys will like it, and you're very welcome.
wait a minute.... i'm the kind of person that gets the same sandwich from the same restaurant every time. and it is tasty. damn tasty! but i also really like anime. so, there's that...
I LOVE Hayao Miyazaki films! Yeah. Big surprise, I know. Howl probably ranks at #2 for me, Princess Mononoke being number one. I'm so ready for it to come to DVD. Nothing like waiting almost a full year.
haha...true that Adam. Reading over my post again today I feel as though I come across as rather abrupt in my attempt to help people realize that there is good stuff out there in things that you wouldn't normally see/hear/eat/etc...
Everyone who knows me probobly realized that I'm not trying to be rude. I just think it's important for us to cross borders into territory that we might not be so familiar with and try new things sometimes. We need to be an open minded people. Now...does that mean that ALL anime is good and worth seeing??? My answer to that is heck no. haha, but to each his own.
You could maybe mention this post to Jackson so he'll consider getting off my back about it.
You're right, though, of course. There's a lot of anime out there that just shouldn't exist.
haha...thanks Pace. ;)
you need to see grave of the fireflies. it's another studio ghibli film. that is an awesome movie. i haven't been able to find it for rent anywhere, though. alas.

So long as you don't make it die like my bowl did, it's yours for the borrowing. Catch me online or get my number from Emm and let me know when you want it. It's basically one of my all time favorite films (but I must say that I prefer the non-dubbed version). Everyone should watch it at least once.
This has little to do with your post, but you're in my ward. I sat behind you last Sunday.
howl was indeed awesome. and i was glad you was there. and that you brought fries. and that you offered to share with me...even though they were too pointy for my taste. we need to hang out more. and watch awesome movies. and eat non-pointy fries.
...also, tolkein boy is in your ward?? i read his blog all the time. we need to be friends.
