Cleaning checks were today. We basically all forgot about them until late late late last night, and seeing as how 2 of the roomies have early school and work, Taylor and I told them we'd take care of it in the morning. Luckily our house wasn't in too bad of shape so we just did some quick cleaning/straightening up around the house...it didn't take too long and we passed so life is just dandy.
I did come to an interesting realization as I was cleaning the bathroom sink...cleaning for cleaning checks is like participating in a beginning excavation class. I mean, you can never really get somethings clean in student housing, all you can do is scrape/dust off your layer of film, grime, and dust...the ancient layers dirt from student civilizations that have gone before you are still there in all their glory.
Sometimes, all you can really do is take off your dust and make what's left of the past existence of former students in the space you now reside visible.
That's how I felt cleaning our sink this morning.

I feel like that when I have my cleaning parties every week. Except it's not past student civilizations, rather the current ones. Sleeping in the rooms down the hall.
When I cleaned our kitchen sink this morning, all I could think about is how I could possibly murder my roommates and get away with it...sometimes it's the only way to take my mind off the insanity!
