...the acquisition of spiritual qualities

There was a CES Fireside Broadcast tonight, and President Thomas S. Monson was the speaker. One of the many quotes he shared during his address to the young adults was the following from a conference talk by David O. McKay. It caught my attention, and I wanted to share:

Keep in mind that man's earthly existence is but a test as to whether he will concentrate his efforts, his mind, his soul upon things which contribute to the comfort and gratification of his physical nature, or whether he will make as his life's purpose the acquisition of spiritual qualities. [David O. McKay, CR, October 1969, p. 8]

Is it all about me...and what gives me gratification NOW. Or is it focused on giving to all that is in need! Giving of one's time and energy. Too sum up I call it service and losing one's self in that service.

becca,
yeah. I was only able to get a part of the quote down in my notes, but it was enough to be able to look up the whole thing online.
