highlining + base jumping = crazy

Ever heard of base lining?


Maybe you've heard of slacklining. If so, you probably know what highlining is (slacklining from a high altitude). Base lining is pretty much what you'd get if highlining and base jumping were to get together and make a baby. It looks something like this.

The Boom Stick

It had been awhile since I visited myspace. Tonight I figured I'd check to see if I'd received any messages, comments, or friend invites. Well I ended up visiting some of my friends' pages.
I found this video my friend Sam posted on his page. Sam and I are good friends from high school. Oh how it makes me smile.

The Format at Webster Hall - 21 Aug 07

A couple weeks ago I went to Webster Hall to see The Format. It was awesome. I wanted to see if anyone would post some good video of the show onto YouTube so I waited a little while to see what would turn up. Nothing too amazing (I really need to get my own digital camera), but you can get a taste of what I was able to experience at least. (Nate Ruess's voice is just as amazing live.)

Nada Surf - Inside of Love

337 Project

Apparently the owner of an old building in Salt Lake that is set for demolition in June opened the building up to local artists and their "gallery" is now available for viewing. If you're around the Salt Lake area the 25th-27th you really ought to make it out there to see what's taken place. I haven't seen it yet myself, but trust me: I don't plan on missing this experience. There is no doubt in my mind that it's amazing.

The artists ranged from graffiti to formally trained contemporary artists and everything in between. Some of my friends (those reading this post may very well know them or perhaps even be them) contributed to this amazing art project. People like Sam Gray, Chris Coy, and Bardi Haliti. You can see some pictures of the project unfolding at their individual blogs or go to the project website at http://www.337project.org

Nickel Creek

My brother and I went to see Nickel Creek in Salt Lake the Saturday I got back from my New York trip. The concert was awesome!

The sound/video quality isn't the best, but my brother recorded the following video from the concert. It's one of my favorite songs.



Jon Brion opened for them and performed with them on a couple of songs. He's produced/composed music for movies like Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind, I Heart Huckabees, and Punch Drunk Love.

I was definately blessed to see some amazingly talented artist and musicians that night.
